Well, we’ve made it. Kind of. When we started this adventure the final destination was Seattle. As you now know we have now made a home (or something resembling a home — it’s still a work in progress) in Northern California. But Seattle was where we were heading when this adventure began. The mix of city living, the beauty of the Pacific-Northwest, and change we desperately needed, pointed us to Seattle. As we packed, sold non-essentials, and prepared to say goodbye to New York, Seattle just felt right. Not quite ready to close the door on city living, but desperately needing more than that, life in the PNW just seemed like the answer. Until it wasn’t. An actual job prospect in California shifted our plans to a place we love with all our hearts but seemed out of reach. Leaving one expensive city for another just didn’t seem like the right thing to do. But with jobs and money being an option, it suddenly seemed attainable. Washington was still on the roadtrip plan so we got a mini fix of Seattle. And I immediately want to go back.

We only stopped for one day in actual Seattle, knowing that lots of time needed to be spent in Oregon, and also the rest of Washington. Which is huge and amazing. It was just one day filled with typical tourist adventures: Public Market and seafood. A few days was definitely not enough. And as I write this I’m wondering if maybe we made the wrong decision. But we can’t go back and I’m finding myself really falling hard for Bay Area Living. We are already planning a trip back this summer for our anniversary.
After we said goodbye to Seattle we made our way to Olympic National Park. Which is amazing. I feel like I say that about every national park we’ve hit so far, but it’s always true. Olympic is another one that transports you to another word. Where you think will just be big trees, you are transported to a jungle, with the Pacific Ocean just a few miles away.

Forks, also known as the birthplace of Twilight is right here too. No, we did not go on the Twilight Tour — yes, that is a real thing — but we did go to the beach for the first time on this trip so I think we made the right choice. We hiked down a steep trail that lead straight to the Pacific Ocean. It was magical; like a dream I had. It was kind of surreal to step into the freezing ocean and know that we weren’t just visiting.

Even better was watching my best guy and my best dog saunter onto the sand like they owned the world. I sure did pick some good ones.

We didn’t stay in Washington long, mainly because we are madly in love with Oregon and spent a solid week there. But Washington, you were an amazing welcome to this west coast life we have chosen.
