It seems that all the young people are quitting their draining corporate jobs and living on the road. It’s just the thing to do. And to be honest, that’s the life that Steve and I envisioned for ourselves. New York City had just about sucked the life out of me and change was seriously needed. But instead of moving to a new apartment we thought moving across the country was a better idea. Or better yet living on the road, exploring the country or the world, and falling more in love with everything. But the part that these nomads leave out, is that this is a hard life. It’s not that I haven’t loved our adventures and want to keep going, but living in the smallest Prius with 2 people and a dog (that requires all the space) does wear on you. The other part is that all these nomadic instagram-famous adventurers hated their job so they found a lifestyle that worked for them. But I don’t hate my job. Actually I love it. So much. This summer has really taught me more about what is worth the sacrifice. And the opportunity to write, design, and create opportunities for kids in a way that makes me feel valued and intelligent is amazing.
So it was right around the time we hit the Pacific Time Zone that I could see the horizon and was ready to be in California. Not Seattle, but more about that later. I was getting restless to have my feet be on solid ground and not constantly moving. After leaving the beauty of Montana we came to Idaho. And Coeur D’Alene. Did you know that the Pacific Time Zone starts in Idaho? Well I did not. So imagine my surprise when we were finally on the west coast. And in an insanely beautiful place. Seriously. Look at it.

We decided to change it up this time and stayed in a Bed & Breakfast. Our first one together ever. I know. How appropriately adorable. Also beautiful. I think I really could get behind this B&B trend. We stayed in the Coeur D’Lion Inn and it was perfect. We only stayed the night since we were aiming to make it to Seattle by the next day, but I already want to be back. The breakfast was seriously amazing. And my mom makes a mean breakfast sandwich so I know my breakfast foods. Our little B&B was a 10-minute drive to downtown where we proceeded to Crafted Tap House with delicious beer and a monster of a burger. Oh, that was prefaced by a brewery (because of course it was). So if you ever find yourself in Coeur D’Alene mosey on over to the Mad Bomber Bar & Brewery. All their beer is great and they are all named after bombs. Make beer. Not bombs. We even had time to eat mini ice cream cones.

Ella loved the brooding, wet weather that seems to have welcomed us to the Pacific Coast, and I know we won’t see the last of it.
